How do Focus and Do Not Disturb work on iPhone and Android?
Both platforms can reduce interruptions and let selected people or apps break through. On iPhone, Focus includes Do Not Disturb and other profiles. On recent Android versions, Modes includes Do Not Disturb and other custom modes. The available settings and schedules are not identical.
What to do
- On iPhone, go to Settings > Focus, select Do Not Disturb or another Focus, and choose the people and apps allowed to notify you.
- Open Control Center > Focus to turn a profile on or off quickly.
- On supported Android versions, open Settings > Modes > Do Not Disturb and adjust Notification filters for people, apps, and alarms.
- Try a test call or notification from someone important before relying on a new quiet-hours rule.
Limits and compatibility notes
Check this before relying on the answer
Android menus depend on phone maker and version; newer Modes controls are not present on every older phone. Emergency/critical alerts may still appear. Neither platform guarantees every third-party notification category is independently configurable.
