How is clipboard history different on iPhone and Android?
The standard iPhone copy-and-paste interface does not provide the same visible, multi-item clipboard history and pinning controls found in Gboard on supported Android phones. iPhone can copy and paste text or images, and Universal Clipboard can paste supported content between nearby Apple devices. Those are different from a searchable history of multiple saved clips.
What to do
- On iPhone, select content, tap Copy, and tap Paste where you need it.
- For copying between your own Apple devices, check that Handoff, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and the same Apple Account are enabled; then use Universal Clipboard.
- On Android with Gboard, open a text field and tap the keyboard's Clipboard tool to see recent clips.
- Pin important text in Gboard's clipboard if you want it to remain available longer.
- For frequently reused snippets on iPhone, use a dedicated notes or text-replacement workflow rather than expecting Android-style clipboard history.
Limits and compatibility notes
Check this before relying on the answer
Gboard clears unpinned clipboard history after a short period; pinned items behave differently. Android keyboard apps vary, and iPhone third-party clipboard tools may have permissions or privacy limits. Universal Clipboard is not an archive and should not be described as clipboard history.
