Why does iMessage make sounds even with the phone on silent?
If Messages seems to make sounds on an iPhone in Silent mode, first determine whether the sound comes from notification delivery, media, a contact exception, or an alert setting. Do not assume iMessage ignores Silent mode.

- Reproduce the sound with a normal incoming message.
- Check contact Emergency Bypass, notification tones, and Focus.
