What Will I Lose?
What can replace Find My family location sharing after switching to Android?
Google Maps Location Sharing is one cross-platform option for families with iPhones and Android phones. Each person chooses whether to share and for how long. It is not a complete replacement for Apple Find My device recovery, AirTag tracking, or Precision Finding.
What to do
- Install or open Google Maps on each participating phone and sign in as needed.
- Tap the profile picture > Location sharing > New share.
- Choose the recipient and sharing duration, or create a time-limited link where appropriate.
- Ask the recipient to confirm they can see the shared location.
- Review privacy settings and stop sharing when no longer needed.
Limits and compatibility notes
Check this before relying on the answer
Google Maps sharing requires consent and depends on account/region/age eligibility and device location permissions. A link shared with someone without a Google Account may expire within 24 hours; do not assume the same behavior as Apple Find My.
