Why does an image I downloaded not appear in the iPhone Photos app?
Downloading an image as a file is not always the same as saving it to your Photos library. The image may be in the Files app, especially in Downloads, while Photos only shows items added to the photo library.
What to do
- Open Files > Browse and check Downloads under iCloud Drive or On My iPhone.
- If you find the image, open it and look for a Share option such as Save Image when supported.
- Open Photos again to check whether the image was added to the library.
- If it is not in Files, check the original app’s save or export options; some apps use their own storage.
